Utilization of Mobile Reminders in Improving the Completeness and Timeliness of Routine Childhood Immunization in Kano Metropolis, Nigeria: A Randomized Controlled Trial

Globally, routine immunization uptake has been improving after the COVID-19 pandemic. This is evident by the reduced number of children missing out on any vaccination from 18.1 to 14.3 million between 2019 and 2022 (World Health Organization [WHO], 2023a). However, it is estimated that 6.2 million children in Nigeria did not receive any vaccines within the same period, thereby contributing more than one-quarter (30%) of the number of unimmunized children across the world (Save the Children, 2022; WHO, 2023b).
