A new piece of the microbiota pie: Mining 'omics for DNA inversion states

Cell Host Microbe. 2024 Mar 13;32(3):293-295. doi: 10.1016/j.chom.2024.02.009.ABSTRACTIn this issue of Cell Host & Microbe, Carasso et al. survey invertible DNA sites in Bacteroidales from patients with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) and healthy control individuals. They identify complex functional interactions between Bacteroides fragilis, an invertible promoter, a capsular polysaccharide, a bacteriophage, and the human host. The establishment of 'omics approaches to characterizing genomic targets and functional roles is still required.PMID:38484706 | DOI:10.1016/j.chom.2024.02.009
