Dry eye disease pathogenesis and clinical signs: searching for correspondence in the clinical practice

CONCLUSIONS: Literature evidence and clinical experiences suggest that basic diagnostic approaches (assessment of hyperemia, MMP-9 levels, and staining of the ocular surface with Lissamine green or fluorescein) represent useful tools to assess the inflammatory component of DED in everyday practice, providing a guide to establish the correct therapeutic strategy.PMID:38497871 | DOI:10.26355/eurrev_202403_35602
