This study investigates the influence of maternal age on birth procedure, gestational age, and rate of interventions during delivery. The influence of maternal parity is also analyzed. Material and Methods Data from the Austrian Register of Births was retrospectively collected and evaluated. The collected data was the data of all singleton live births in Austria between January 1, 2008 and December 31, 2016 (n = 686 272). Multiple births and stillbirths were excluded from the study. Infants born prematurely, often associated with maternal infection, frequently exhibit breathing instabilities that require resuscitation. We hypothesized that breathing patterns during the first hour of life would be predictive of survival in an animal model of prematurity. Using plethysomography, we measured breathing patterns during the first hour after birth in mice born at term (Term 19.5), delivered prematurely on gestational day 18.5 following administration of low dose lipopolysaccharide (LPS; 0.14mg/kg) to pregnant dams (LPS 18.5), or delivered on gestational day 18.7 or 17.5 by caesarian section (C-S 18.5 and C-S...

Authors: Li H, Dong A, Lv X Abstract Correlation between expression levels of advanced glycation end products (AGEs) and adipocytokines and oxidative stress index malondialdehyde (MDA) in placental tissues of pregnant women with gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) was investigated. Seventy-two cases of GDM pregnant women who received routine prenatal examination and gave birth in the Department of Obstetrics, Binzhou City Center Hospital from March 2016 to May 2017 were collected as the observation group. Another 80 cases of normal pregnant women who gave birth at the same time were selected as the control group. E...

This study investigated the effects of intravenous AA administration on plasma AA profiles in premature baboons and infants. METHODS: Premature baboons were delivered by cesarean section at 125 days (67% gestation) and chronically ventilated. At 24 hours of life, a parenteral AA protocol comparable to the early and high AA regimens used in premature infants was initiated. Serial plasma AA concentrations were obtained on days of life (DOLs) 1, 3, and 7 and compared with concentrations at similar DOLs from preterm infants. Fetal baboon (165 ± 2 days; 89% gestation) and term baboon plasma AA concentrations were ob...

METHODS This is a cross-sectional study based on the records of pregnant women admitted between January and July 2012, totalling 430 pregnant women. To identify possible factors associated with complications during pregnancy, data were subjected to univariate analysis using the Poisson regression model. The chi-squared test was used to...
