Early Treatment With Mesenchymal Stromal Cells Prevents Development of Long-term Radiation Induced Salivary Dysfunction

There is a critical need for a treatment that will safely and effectively prevent the development of radiation-induced xerostomia (RIX) or salivary dysfunction. We preformed preclinical studies to test the ability of IFN- ɣ stimulated marrow-derived mesenchymal stromal cells (MSC(M)) to prevent the development of long-term salivary dysfunction in a mouse model.
