Giant Right Atrial Myxoma – An Unusual Cause of Dyspnoea

The first surgery for an atrial myxoma was the second successful open-heart operation worldwide, performed in 1954 by Clarence Crafoord in Stockholm [1]. Approximately 15% –20% of all myxomas arise in the right atrium [2]. A large myxoma in the right atrium usually causes right heart failure, palpitations, and shortness of breath [3–5].
