Management of Head Trauma

Surg Clin North Am. 2024 Apr;104(2):325-341. doi: 10.1016/j.suc.2023.09.006. Epub 2023 Oct 21.ABSTRACTTraumatic brain injury (TBI) represents a heterogenous spectrum of disease. It is essential to rapidly assess a patient's neurologic status and implement measures to prevent secondary brain injury. Intracranial hypertension, a common sequela of TBI, is managed in a tiered and systematic fashion, starting with the least invasive and moving toward the most invasive. TBI has long-lasting effects on patients and their families and represents a substantial financial and social influence on society. Research regarding the prognosis and treatment of TBI is essential to limit the influence of this widespread disease.PMID:38453305 | DOI:10.1016/j.suc.2023.09.006
