Improved fertilization, degeneration, and embryo quality rates with PIEZO-assisted intracytoplasmic sperm injection compared with conventional intracytoplasmic sperm injection —a sibling oocyte split multicenter trial

While screening recently accepted articles in Fertility and Sterility, we came across the research of Zander-Fox et  al. (1). In this randomized prospective multicenter trial, the Australian colleagues demonstrated that PIEZO-assisted intracytoplasmic sperm injection (PIEZO-ICSI) results in higher rates of fertilization and good quality blastocysts, compared with regular ICSI. It is also associated with a decrea sed rate of oocyte degeneration. These findings and the reported promising genetic and neonatal data would make PIEZO-ICSI a potential alternative to conventional ICSI.
