Y-incision aortic annular enlargement and the golden ratio: Nature leads the way

We read with great interest the article by Yang and colleagues1 assessing the early outcomes of the Y-incision technique to enlarge the aortic annulus by 3 to 4 valve sizes. The outcomes have been further validated by a recent article by the same team reporting outcomes from 119 patients undergoing Y-incision aortic annular enlargement.2 Given the significance of the provided evidence, we would like to further stress another important point we believe contributes to the success of the Y-incision technique.
