Resectoscopic surgery: a 5-year audit of over a thousand procedures at a central hospital

Introduction and aimsof the study: Endometrial polyps and submucous myomas are two of the most frequent pathologies in Gynaecology. Resectoscopy is a surgical technique performed in order to treat these pathologies, allowing access to the uterine cavity, confirmation of the diagnosis and removal of the lesions at the same operative time. Sometimes this technique is performed an incomplete or unsuccessful office hysteroscopy, and it is frequently performed in an outpatient setting.
