Cost-effectiveness of weekly adaptive radiotherapy versus standard IMRT in head and neck cancer alongside the ARTIX trial
Radiation therapy is a standard treatment for patients with locally advanced squamous cell carcinoma of the head and neck [1,2]. Among the existing radiotherapy techniques, intensity modulated radiotherapy (IMRT) is the recommended treatment [3]. Indeed, this technique makes it possible to reduce the doses of radiation administered to the parotid glands at the planning stage and thus to reduce xerostomia in these patients [4 –6]. The parotid glands are the major tissues responsible for salivary output, contributing up to 70% of the salivary flow [7].
