Homogenous dose prescription in Gamma Knife Radiotherapy: Combining the best of both worlds

Stereotactic radiosurgery (SRS) is an effective option for non-surgical management of intracranial lesions. SRS may be delivered using linear accelerators (LINACs) or specific devices such as the Leksell Gamma Knife ® (LGK, Elekta Instruments AB, Sweden) [1–4]. The latter is known for high accuracy yielding clinical outcomes that are similar to surgery depending on the target size [5,6]. Specifically for small lesions, LGK treatment achieves high local control (LC) and limited toxicity due to high prescripti on doses with sharp gradients [7,8].
