Post-exercise Oxygen Uptake Recovery Delay In Individuals With Left Ventricular Assist Device
Cardiopulmonary exercise testing (CPET) enables objective measurement multi-organ function during exercise in patients with heart failure (HF). Post-exercise oxygen uptake recovery delay (VO2RD), a non-invasive CPET metric, is the time when VO2 falls permanently below peak VO2 after loaded exercise. VO2RD reflects the inadequacy of cardiac output augmentation during incremental exercise and requisite “repayment” of O2 deficit. The magnitude of VO2RD is unknown in patients with left ventricular assist devices (LVAD).
