Heart Failure in Latin American Women: A Call for Action
Latin America (LATAM), defined as the region of the Americas where Romance-Latin-derived languages such as Spanish, Portuguese, and French are spoken, is comprised of 33 countries stretching from Mexico, Central America, and the Caribbean to Chile, the farthest South American territory. Encompassing 8.3%of the world's population (more than 670 million inhabitants, median age 31 years), 335 million women live in the various nations of this subcontinent, most of which are categorized as Low-and-Middle-Income1.
