Racial Inequities in Mortality Rate in Hospitalized Children

CONCLUSIONS: Inpatient mortality rates are significantly higher in U.S. children of Asian and Pacific Islander and Black races compared to White children. U.S. population-based metrics such as hospitalization rate, ventilation rate, and hospital mortality rate are highest in Black children. Our data suggest that lower median household income alone may not account for a higher inpatient mortality rate. The causes and prevention of racial and ethnic inequities in hospitalized children need to be explored further.PMID:38151422 | DOI:10.1016/j.jnma.2023.12.004
