A multicenter study of self-limited epilepsy with centrotemporal spikes (SeLECTS): Effectiveness of antiseizure medication with respect to spike-wave index
Self-limited epilepsy with centrotemporal spikes (SeLECTS), formerly known as childhood epilepsy with centrotemporal spikes (CECTS), is an electrophysiologically well-defined age-dependent epileptic syndrome.1-5 The recent International League Against Epilepsy (ILAE) Task Force on Nosology and Definitions describe the syndrome with both mandatory seizure type(s) and interictal electroencephalographic (EEG) features.2 Both the NICE (National Institute for Health and Care Excellence) and SIGN (Scottish Interuniversity Guidelines Network) guidelines emphasize that EEG is highly important and video sleep EEG is the gold standard in the diagnosis of syndrome.
