Endoscopic submucosal dissection for oesophageal cavernous haemangioma accompanied by squamous epithelial dysplasia

A 70-year-old man with dysphagia presented to our hospital. Gastroscopy revealed a submucosal eminence with a bluish surface in the anterior wall of the oesophagus 20 –23 cm from the incisor, which was soft to the touch (Fig. 1A). Endoscopic ultrasound (EUS) showed a 10.5 × 18.5 mm hypoechoic and homogeneous mass in the submucosal layer (Fig. 1B). The patient was initially diagnosed with a submucosal bulge of the oesophagus, and atypical hemangioma was t he first consideration. A subsequent computed tomography (CT) scan confirmed the presence and location of the lesion (Fig. 2).
