Outcomes of Provisional Stenting With Versus Without Side Branch Intervention in Patients With Bifurcation Lesion –Related ST-Segment Elevation Myocardial Infarction

To date, percutaneous transluminal angioplasty of coronary bifurcation is considered a complex high-risk procedure. By definition, a bifurcation includes a main vessel, a distal vessel, and a side branch. The latter is the main determinant factor of stenting technique and long-term outcomes.1 Until now, the best treatment is not yet defined and should be tailored to every situation. The decision to start with an elective single or a double stenting technique remains a matter of debate, especially in complex coronary bifurcation.
