CT (neuro)angiography protocols for ischaemic and haemorrhagic strokes: a regional evaluation and technical note from a tertiary neuroscience centre

Computed Tomography (Neuro)angiography (CTA) demands optimal opacification of the relevant arterial anatomy, without venous contamination and excludes irrelevant anatomy. Our neuroscience centre gets such patients referred from 10 peripheral Trusts in the region. The interventional neuroradiologists reviewing scans from these hospitals often note inhomogeneities in image quality across the region, at times being of suboptimal diagnostic value. We aimed to identify differences in imaging parameters and discrepancies in the expected FOV acquisition, which may explain variations in image quality.
