22.4 Malignant Catatonia and Neuroleptic Malignant Syndrome in Children and Adolescents

Malignant catatonia and neuroleptic malignant syndrome (NMS) are both neuropsychiatric conditions associated with significant comorbidity and mortality. However, timely recognition and treatment of these conditions in the pediatric population is essential to reducing the risk of serious harm.
