Combination prophylactic amiodarone with beta-blockers versus beta-blockers in atrial fibrillation after cardiac surgery: A systematic-review and meta-analysis

Postoperative atrial fibrillation (POAF) is one of the most common complications associated with cardiac surgery. It occurs in approximately 30 –50% of postoperative patients and is associated with high mortality risks, morbidity, and longer hospital stays.1 POAF is also associated with higher rates of thromboembolic events, need for additional treatments, and higher economic costs, particularly in those undergoing cardiac surgery.1
