We thank Dr Rahim for his interesting and timely comments on our recent review article.1 Our review examined several functional interactions between dietary components and the gastrointestinal (GI) microbiome to evaluate whether or not alterations in dietary content could be used to target beneficial changes in the GI microbiome as an effective means to improve outcomes in cancer prevention, etiology, progression, and treatment.
