The impact of trauma-related symptoms and neuroticism on compensatory behaviors in a sample of adults with eating disorders

CONCLUSION: Although past research has documented high rates of co-occurring ED and PTSD, the connections between trauma-related symptoms and ICBs are complex and may be unique to each type of ICB. Given that neuroticism may not influence the relationship between trauma-related symptoms and ICBs, more research should be done to establish an understanding of factors that could explain the relationship between ICBs and trauma-related symptoms. Novel interventions that simultaneously target restricting, purging, and trauma-related symptoms could be beneficial to explore.PMID:37778282 | DOI:10.1016/j.eatbeh.2023.101819
