Introduction

This online supplement is the first of three featuring previously accepted manuscripts focusing on ischemic stroke. The last decade has witnessed a revolution in the endovascular management of acute ischemic stroke. Device improvement, better-constructed prospective trials, and refinements in endovascular techniques have sparked this revolution. However, critical issues still need to be addressed. Specifically, the importance of pre-thrombectomy imaging, medium-sized vessel thromboses, patient access to capable treatment centers, management of intracranial atherosclerosis, and posterior circulation disease are subjects of debate and investigation. The manuscripts in this issue, and two more to come, address these topics as well as present novel research on this devastating disease. I congratulate the authors of these manuscripts for advancing our field! Patient consent for publication Not applicable. Ethics approval Not applicable.
