Cytopenias in pediatric kidney transplant recipients: preceding factors and clinical consequences

ConclusionsPosttransplant infections are substantial contributors to developing posttransplant cytopenias. Preemptive transplantation appears to reduce risk of late neutropenia, the accompanying reduction in immunosuppressive therapy, and the ensuing risk of graft rejection. An alternative response to neutropenia, possibly using granulocyte colony stimulating factor, may diminish graft rejection.Graphical abstractA higher resolution version of the Graphical abstract is available asSupplementary information
