Comparison of Modified Beam F3 with Scalp Geometry-Based Parameter (SGP) for Locating the DLPFC

Background: As the field of transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) evolves, there is still debate over the optimal therapeutic target for the effective treatment of depression. Over time, it has become elucidated that the left dorsolateral prefrontal cortex (DLPFC) is highly heterogenous, and response rates may depend on the precise location of where in the DLPFC rTMS is administered. DLPFC targeting approaches have ranged from a variety of scalp measurement techniques, such as the 5-cm rule or the Beam F3 method, to neuroimaging and neuronavigation.
