In Reply In a letter regarding our systematic review and meta-analysis on COVID-19 –related child and adolescent changes in depression symptoms where we reported a standardized mean change (SMC) of 0.26 (95% CI, 0.19-0.33), Daly asserts that (1) inclusion of 6 of the 7 largest effect sizes “may have led to an exaggerated estimate of change in depressive symptoms,” (2) the fi ndings are “at odds with the broader literature,” and (3) the inclusion of conference abstracts is suspect given the “limited information on which to base a quality assessment.” We address each point below.
