Introduction to Thematic Reviews on Forward Thinking on Clinical Trials in Clinical Practice

Many advancements in medicine have been realized through the rigors of clinical trials, whether early-phase single-arm trials, multiple-arm randomized trials, or nonrandomized cohort trials. Although clinical trials are often considered to include randomization of study participants to interventions, the National Institutes of Health defines a clinical trial as “a research study in which one or more human subjects are prospectively assigned to one or more interventions (which may include placebo or other control) to evaluate the effects of those interventions on health-related biomedical or behavioral outcomes.” A key aspect for high impact on health c are is scientific rigor.
