Who is the<BEST> Deaf educator of them all? One is Wendy Daunt, who transitioned her school to bilingual education, taught British Sign Language (BSL) and Deaf Studies to staff, and brought BSL into the classroom. She contributed to the development of ˃400 BSL instructional videos, a BSL dictionary, and the BBC’s 23-part series on BSL. Another is Janet Silo, a teacher, advocate, and Deaf Studies leader who worked to better prepare less-experienced Deaf educators and created a Deaf studies curriculum. Then there is artist and actor, Jerry Hanif in, BSL teacher and language model for instructional videos who added Deaf arts, Deaf theater, and Deaf culture to bilingual education programs.
