The relationships between the healthy nurse, Healthy Nation program, RN perceptions of their work system, and health-related quality of life

With 4.4 million nurses in the United States, nurses represent the backbone of the American health care system. It is imperative that nurses remain healthy, both to enhance their own quality of life and to provide the best care to their patients (Blake& Lee, 2007; Carlson& Warne, 2007; Esposito& Fitzpatrick, 2011; Frank et al., 2003). Unfortunately, nurse physical and mental health is often not optimal, and conditions such as burnout, depression, anxiety, fatigue, infection, and injury plague the nursing community (Cheung& Yip, 2015; Fronteira& Ferrinho, 2011; Gould et al., 2019; Letvak et al., 2012; Wu et al., 2022).
