Molluscum contagiosum affecting the lips

Molluscum contagiosum is a cutaneous and mucosal viral infection that can affect the oral cavity and lips on rare occasions. The aim of this study is to report a case of molluscum contagiosum affecting the lips. A 53-year-old female was referred for evaluation of multiple papules on the skin and lips. Oral and cutaneous examination revealed the presence of multiple yellowish papules in the skin of the shoulders and neck and in the vermillion border. Clinical diagnosis included molluscum contagiosum and impetigo and a biopsy of a lip lesion was performed under local anesthesia.
