The impact of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease on the prognosis outcomes of patients with percutaneous coronary intervention or coronary artery bypass grafting: A meta-analysis

Coronary artery disease (CAD) is one of the main types of cardiovascular disease and is characterized by myocardial ischemia as a result of narrowing of the coronary arteries. Incident cases of CAD were reported to be 21.2 million in 20191 and prevalent cases were estimated to be 197 million. Moreover, CAD is among the leading global causes of mortality, with an estimated 9.14 million deaths from CAD worldwide in 2019.2 A report on the global burden of disease showed that the incidence of CAD increased markedly between 1990 and 2017.
