Exploring pain phenotypes in people with early knee osteoarthritis:the multicenter osteoarthritis study (most)

Purpose: Pain phenotyping in the early stages of knee osteoarthritis (KOA) has been proposed to represent the multifactorial nature of pain. Identification of early KOA pain phenotypes can help with prognosis and the limitation of pain progression through the development of targeted treatment interventions. A mechanism informed approach to KOA pain is recommended to understand contributions arising from alterations in the peripheral or central nervous system. However, the ideal components to assess phenotypes are not known.
