Cerebral oxygenation during cardiopulmonary exercise testing in cardiorespiratory diseases: A systematic review

Cardiopulmonary exercise testing (CPET) is a well-supported assessment technique widely used around the world.1 CPET is an exercise test with concomitant gas exchange analysis, considered the gold standard for determining cardiorespiratory fitness and provides a comprehensive evaluation of the physiological responses involved in the exercise. The dynamic and non-invasive assessment of the integrated responses of the pulmonary, cardiovascular and skeletal muscle systems,1,2 to physical exercise provides relevant information for clinical decision making.
