Characteristics of cardiopulmonary exercise test in tracheobronchial tuberculosis patients with central airway stenosis
Central airway stenosis is an uncommon disorder, the main causes of which include tumors, tracheal trauma, and tracheal infections. Tracheobronchial tuberculosis (TBTB) is the main cause of central airway stenosis in China because of the prevalence of TB, thus central airway stenosis is not a common disorder in developed countries.1,2 Indeed, TBTB is the most common cause of scarring airway stenosis in Chinese adults (77.8%).1 In Western countries, however, scarring airway stenosis generally results from intubation, tracheotomy, burn injuries, secondary healing after surgery, or trauma.
