I was a teacher before applying to graduate entry medicine. I also taught in a classroom throughout the pandemic. During the lockdowns I saw enough snide comments on the supposed laziness and cowardice of teachers who were apparently sitting at home doing nothing and having a lovely time. A colleague made a post about a difficult day on Facebook, and her non-teacher friends were insisting that she was an exception, that "most teachers aren't working", and sharing their horror stories of bad lessons delivered to their children over Zoom.
