The role of gender and veteran status in healthcare access among a  national sample of U.S. adults with unhealthy alcohol use

Conclusions: Overall, healthcare access was better for Veterans and females with unhealthy alcohol use compared to civilians and males with unhealthy alcohol use. However, given that females were more likely to report a cost barrier, future implementation research aiming to improve equity in care may want to explore reasons for cost barriers and develop strategies to help reduce these barriers in order to eliminate gender disparities in primary care-based alcohol-related care.PMID:36722613 | DOI:10.1080/10826084.2023.2170182
