Foreword

When we first started our radiology residency (in the last century!), the only modality that could reliably visualize the ovaries was ultrasound. Advances in CT have allowed this modality to better visualize these structures. However, MR has taken ovarian imaging to a new level. Initial imaging with pelvic ultrasound remains the mainstay, and the role of MR imaging of the adnexa has expanded and is very important in the diagnosis and treatment of both benign and malignant pathologies.
