Trends in osteoporosis medication use in US postmenopausal women: analysis of the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey 1999-2000 through 2017-2018

Conclusions The use of osteoporosis medications in postmenopausal US women has significantly decreased since 2007 to 2008 onward. This finding was mostly attributed to a low prescription rate of bisphosphonate drugs. Moreover, the treatment of osteoporosis in postmenopausal women was suboptimal and decreased over time.
