Evolution in Parental Leave Policies: Plastic Surgery and Obstetrics/Gynecology Lead the Way

Conclusions: There has been little improvement in parental leave allowances since 2006, and the current median, 5 weeks, falls short of guidelines recommending 6 to 12 weeks following the birth of a child. Ongoing improvement in culture and policy are needed to support residents and their families.
