Effectiveness of high intensity laser therapy on pain, grip strength and median nerve conductivity in pregnant women with carpal tunnel syndrome: A randomized controlled trial
Carpal tunnel syndrome (CTS) is an entrapment of the median nerve accounting for 90% of all entrapment neuropathies.1 Patients with CTS commonly present with pain or paresthesia (numbness and tingling) following the median nerve distribution territory (ie, the first three digits and the lateral half of the fourth digit).2 The prevalence of CTS is higher in women, especially during pregnancy. Although the true prevalence of CTS among pregnant women remains unknown, the estimates vary from 7% to 43% when using electrodiagnostic resources to -31% to -62% with clinical diagnosis.
