SARS ‐CoV‐2 and hypertension
The objective of this review is to give an overview of the pathophysiological effects of the Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) in relation to hypertension (HT), with a focus on the Renin –Angiotensin–Aldosterone System (RAAS) and the MAS receptor. HT is a multifactorial disease and a public health burden, as it is a risk factor for diseases like stroke, coronary artery disease, and heart failure, leading to 10.4 million deaths yearly. CDC: Proposed Data Collection Submitted for Public Comment and Recommendations
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) is seeking comments on an information collection related to the Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System (BRFSS) for the 2022-2024 period. The CDC proposes revising the BRFSS to include questions on the following topics: COVID vaccination, impact of the COVID pandemic, periodontal disease, additional questions on heart attack and stroke, disaster/pandemic preparedness, veterans' health and the use of newly available tobacco products. Comments are due by May 11, 2021.
