ConclusionFemales in the United Kingdom have an increased risk of short-term mortality after cardiac surgery compared to males. This highlights the need to focus on the understanding of the causes behind these disparities and implementation of strategies to improve outcomes in females.

Effects and outcomes of cardiac surgery in patients with cardiometabolic syndrome
ConclusionsPatients with CMS were more likely to present with increased comorbidities. Patients with CMS undergoing CABG were at risk for worse short ‐term secondary postoperative outcomes and reduced long‐term survival. The data supports the need for further investigation for risk reduction surrounding operative revascularization.

Coronary artery bypass grafting vs. drug-eluting stent implantation in patients with end-stage renal disease requiring dialysis.
Conclusions: Among patients with CAD and dialysis-dependent chronic kidney disease (CKD), treatment with CABG or PCI with DES exhibited similar long-term outcomes. A Multi Center Experience: Is Valve Replacement Safe for Patients with Hugely Dilated Left Ventricle?
CONCLUSION: Valve replacement in patients with hugely dilated left ventricle are safe operations with satisfactory outcomes even if combined with other procedures, especially with proper preoperative preparation, intraoperative preservation of posterior mitral leaflet, and meticulous postoperative follow up in the surgical ICU. Early outcomes in patients undergoing off-pump coronary artery bypass grafting
ConclusionEarly outcome of off-pump CABG was excellent in this study. Increased incidence of deep sternal wound infection remains a concern. Multicenter study with a larger sample size is required for a dependable evaluation of the efficacy of off-pump CABG in Indian population.

Conclusions Redo CABG can be performed safely with low early and late morbidity and mortality. Aortic Valve Replacement in the Moderately Elevated Risk Patient: A Population-Based Analysis of Outcomes
Conclusions This population-based contemporary assessment suggests moderate-risk patients undergoing AVR experience favorable outcomes. Although increasing PROM is important in preoperative evaluation of risk, preexisting pulmonary hypertension and indication for operation are among other factors that should be considered as TAVR expands into this group of patients.
