Potential role for pentoxifylline as an anti-inflammatory drug for patients with acute coronary syndrome
Exp Ther Med. 2022 Jun;23(6):378. doi: 10.3892/etm.2022.11305. Epub 2022 Apr 8.ABSTRACTThe link between inflammation and acute coronary syndrome (ACS) remains to be sufficiently elucidated. It has been previously suggested that there is an inflammatory process associated with ACS. Pentoxifylline, a methylxanthine derivate, is known to delay the progression of atherosclerosis and reduce the risk of vascular events, especially by modulating the systemic inflammatory response. The present study is a single-blind, randomized, prospective study of pentoxifylline 400 mg three times a day (TID) added to standard therapy vs. stand...

Comparison of Ticagrelor With Clopidogrel in East Asian Patients With Acute Coronary Syndrome: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis of Randomized Clinical Trials
In this study, PubMed, EMBASE, Cochrane Library database, and other sources were systematically searched. The primary efficacy outcome was all-cause death, the primary safety outcomes were any bleeding, PLATO major bleeding, and fatal bleeding. The secondary outcomes included vascular-cause death, myocardial infarction, stent thrombosis, stroke, and dyspnea. A total of 8 randomized controlled trials with 3597 patients met inclusion criteria. Compared with clopidogrel, ticagrelor had significantly higher incidence of any bleeding [risk ratio (RR), 1.63; 1.33–1.99; P

Antiplatelet regimens after ischemic stroke or transient ischemic attack: a systematic review and updated network meta-analysis
CONCLUSIONS: The efficacy and safety profiles among antiplatelet regimens may differ according to clinical situation, although cilostazol, aspirin plus clopidogrel, and aspirin plus dipyridamole may be considered as preferable options.PMID:35402589 | PMC:PMC8987873 | DOI:10.21037/atm-21-3748

Current status of antithrombotic therapy and in-hospital outcomes in patients with atrial fibrillation undergoing percutaneous coronary intervention in Germany
CONCLUSION: The preferred therapy after PCI in patients with AF is DAT with a NOAC and clopidogrel. In-hospital ischemic and bleeding events were rare. The recommended durations for combination therapy vary considerably.PMID:35243515 | DOI:10.1007/s00059-022-05099-6
