Design and Rationale of the Home Blood Pressure Telemonitoring Linked with Community Health Workers to Improve Blood Pressure (LINKED-BP) Program
This study is part of the American Heart Association RESTORE (AddREssing Social Determinants TO pRevent hypErtension) Network. This study aims to examine the effect of the LINKED-BP Program on BP reduction and to evaluate the reach, adoption, sustainability, and cost-effectiveness of the intervention.METHODS: Using a hybrid type I effectiveness-implementation design, 600 adults who have elevated BP or untreated stage 1 hypertension without diabetes, chronic kidney disease, history of cardiovascular disease (stroke or coronary heart disease) and age < 65 years will be recruited from 20 primary care practices including co...

Correlation and predictive value of platelet biological indicators and recurrence of large-artery atherosclerosis type of ischemic stroke
This study confirmed that PAg-ADP, PAg-COL, and FIB are closely related to the formation of LAA-IS due to carotid atherosclerosis, and the combined PAg-ADP, PAg-COL, and FIB index levels are the most promising for assessing the prognostic development of recurrence in patients with LAA-IS. Combined monitoring of platelet aggregation rate and FIB index is of important evaluation value in judging the recurrence prognosis of LAA-IS patients.PMID:37038758 | DOI:10.1080/02648725.2023.2196879

Biosimilar Tenecteplase Versus Alteplase in Acute Ischemic Stroke: A Real World Study
CONCLUSION: This present study observed no difference in the efficacy and safety between biosimilar TNK and rTPA. Our findings are in concordance with published trials showing equivalence between the two molecules.PMID:37034051 | PMC:PMC10081554 | DOI:10.4103/aian.aian_754_22

Gut microbiome plays a vital role in post-stroke injury repair by mediating neuroinflammation
In this study, we reviewed the role of the gut microbiome in cerebral stroke and the underlying mechanism of the AMPK signaling pathway in stroke. AMPK mediators in nerve repair and the regulation of intestinal microbial balance were also summarized.PMID:37031605 | DOI:10.1016/j.intimp.2023.110126

Participation by patients from low- and middle-income countries (LMICs) in trial evidence supporting secondary stroke prevention guideline recommendations
CONCLUSIONS: Compared to their global burden of stroke, LMICs are underrepresented in key clinical trials used in formulating a prominent global stroke prevention guideline. While current therapeutic recommendations are likely applicable to practice settings throughout the world, greater involvement of patients from LMIC settings will enhance the contextual relevance and generalizability of recommendations to these disparate populations.PMID:37028264 | DOI:10.1016/j.jns.2023.120641

Intensive Blood Pressure Control After Mechanical Thrombectomy for Acute Ischemic Stroke
Stroke. 2023 Apr 6. doi: 10.1161/STROKEAHA.122.041949. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTOptimal blood pressure targets following successful mechanical thrombectomy remain uncertain. While some observational studies suggest that the relationship between blood pressure and outcomes follows a U-shaped curve, others suggest a linear relationship where lower is better. The recent BP-TARGET study (Blood Pressure Target in Acute Stroke to Reduce Hemorrhage After Endovascular Therapy) did not find a benefit to intensive blood pressure lowering regarding the risk of symptomatic intracranial hemorrhage, but it was not sufficiently powe...

Sex Differences in Outcomes of Ticagrelor Therapy With or Without Aspirin After Percutaneous Coronary Intervention in Patients With Acute Coronary Syndrome: A Post Hoc Secondary Analysis of the TICO Randomized Clinical Trial
CONCLUSIONS: After percutaneous coronary intervention for acute coronary syndrome, women demonstrated worse clinical outcomes than men. Ticagrelor monotherapy after 3-month dual-antiplatelet therapy was associated with significantly lower risk of net adverse clinical events in women without sex interaction.PMID:37021576 | DOI:10.1161/ATVBAHA.122.318725
