Galectin-3 promotes brain injury by modulating the phenotype of microglia via binding TLR-4 after intracerebral hemorrhage
CONCLUSIONS: This study proves that Gal-3 is involved in neuroinflammation and nerve damage after ICH. Gal-3 expression should not be encouraged early on to prevent neuroinflammation. which provides a new possibility for clinical treatment for ICH patients.PMID:37698533 | DOI:10.18632/aging.205014

Causal relationship between Alzheimer's disease and cardiovascular disease: a bidirectional Mendelian randomization analysis
This study applied a two-sample bidirectional Mendelian randomization method to explore the causal relationship between CVD and AD. Genome-wide association study (GWAS) data from 46 datasets of European populations (21,982 cases of AD and 41,944 controls) were utilized to obtain genetic instrumental variables for AD. In addition, genetic instrumental variables for atrial fibrillation (AF), heart failure (HF), myocardial infarction (MI), coronary heart disease (CHD), angina pectoris (AP), and ischemic stroke (IS) (including large-artery atherosclerotic stroke [LAS] and cardioembolic stroke [CES]) were selected from GWAS dat...

Huangqi Guizhi Wuwu decoction promotes M2 microglia polarization and synaptic plasticity via Sirt1/NF- κB/NLRP3 pathway in MCAO rats
This study aimed to investigate the potential role and mechanism of HGWD on neurological deficits in a rat model of middle cerebral artery occlusion (MCAO). Our results showed that HGWD significantly alleviated neurological deficits in MCAO rats, evidenced by high mNSS score, reduced cerebral infarction area, and improved brain pathological injury. Besides, HGWD reduced the levels of TNF-α, IL-1β, IL-6, SOD, MDA and GSH in the brain tissue. Further study suggested that HGWD promoted microglia polarization towards M2 by inhibiting M1 activation (Iba1+/CD16+, iNOS) and enhancing M2 activation (Iba1+/CD206+, Arg-1). Additio...

Single-cell RNA sequencing and multiple bioinformatics methods to identify the immunity and ferroptosis related biomarkers of SARS-CoV-2 infections to ischemic stroke
CONCLUSION: We believe these genes (B4GALT5, CRISPLD2, F5, ACSL1, CREB5) may regulate the immune response and ferroptosis of multiple immune cells, mainly including monocytes, which may contribute to the development of COVID-19-related IS. In addition, these genes may be potential targets for the treatment of COVID-19-related IS.PMID:37606960 | DOI:10.18632/aging.204966

Correlation of the middle cerebral artery atherosclerotic plaque characteristics with ischemic stroke recurrence: a vessel wall magnetic resonance imaging study
This study aims to analyze the imaging features of atherosclerotic plaques in the middle cerebral artery (MCA) of patients with recurrent ischemic stroke using vessel wall magnetic resonance imaging (VWMRI) and investigate the correlation between these imaging features and the recurrence of ischemic stroke. Consecutive patients with ischemic stroke caused by atherosclerotic stenosis of the MCA were collected. The patients were divided into recurrent and non-recurrent ischemic stroke groups. We obtained VWMRI images of MCA plaques using 3.0T MRI by black-blood sequences, and the differences in VWMRI characteristics and clin...
