Age may explain the association of an early dialysis initiation with poor survival
Conclusion: History of ischemic heart disease, serum albumin and dialysis start before 2005 were risk factors for mortality in ESRD patients. Older age is usually associated with early dialysis initiation, so age adjustment is needed to perform studies aimed to calculate the effect of eGFR at dialysis initiation on survival.

Clinically important atrial arrhythmia and stroke risk: a UK-wide online survey among stroke physicians and cardiologists
Conclusions: There is a lack of consensus on the diagnosis and management of patients with brief runs of atrial arrhythmia detected on ambulatory ECG. Further research is needed to clarify the risk of stroke in this unique population of patients.

The causes of hypopituitarism in the absence of abnormal pituitary imaging
Conclusion: These results show that hypopituitarism in the absence of pituitary pathology or an identifiable cause is rare. In patients with multiple anterior pituitary hormone deficiencies haemochromatosis and sarcoidosis should be considered.

The diagnosis and understanding of stroke syndromes has improved dramatically over the years with the advent of modern imaging, while the management is similar to general care as recommended by various guidelines in addition to care of such patients on specialized units with facilities for continuous monitoring of vit...

Factors that influence awareness and treatment of atrial fibrillation in older adults
Conclusions: With projected doubling of numbers of persons over 80 in the next 30 years in the British Isles, detection and management of AF is pressing. Two-thirds of adults at high risk of stroke were inadequately treated. More regular screening for AF, application of criteria for stroke and bleeding risk and awareness of factors influencing diagnosis and treatment is recommended.
