AbstractPercutaneous left atrial appendage (LAA) closure is a routinely performed method to reduce the risk of stroke in patients suffering from atrial fibrillation, when an oral anticoagulation is no longer indicated due to relevant bleeding complications. Currently, the Amplatzer Amulet and the Watchman system are two equally used systems. Guideline Covers Managing Antithrombotics Before Procedures
A new guideline from the AAN recommends that people who take antithrombotic medications for stroke should work closely with their physicians or medical care teams to determine whether these medications should be continued to maintain stroke prevention efforts or temporarily stopped to lower the risk of bleeding with the procedure.
