Long Term Outcomes After Invasive Treatment of Carotid Artery Stenosis: a Longitudinal Study of German Health Insurance Claims
CONCLUSION: The current study revealed striking differences between previous landmark trials and real world practice. It further suggested excess mortality of invasively treated asymptomatic patients.PMID:37490978 | DOI:10.1016/j.ejvs.2023.07.030

Rates of Stroke in Patients With Different Presentations of Carotid Artery Stenosis
CONCLUSION: This cohort study showed no large differences in stroke rates among people with different presentations of carotid artery stenosis.PMID:37295600 | DOI:10.1016/j.ejvs.2023.05.041

Sex Related Differences in Indication and Procedural Outcomes of Carotid interventions in VASCUNET
CONCLUSION: This study confirmed that, in a large registry among non-selected patients, no significant sex related differences were found in peri-operative complication rates after interventions for carotid stenosis.PMID:37105268 | DOI:10.1016/j.ejvs.2023.04.022

Long Term Mortality in Patients Treated with Carotid Endarterectomy
CONCLUSION: Symptomatic and asymptomatic carotid patients show similar long term mortality after CEA, but men had worse outcome than women. Sex, age, and time after surgery were shown to influence SMR. These results highlight the need for targeted secondary prevention, to alter the long term adverse effects in CEA patients.PMID:36871924 | DOI:10.1016/j.ejvs.2023.02.079

A Delphi Consensus Study on Undergoing Carotid Endarterectomy: Patient Reported Outcome Measures
This study aimed to obtain expert consensus on the most important items to include in a PROM designed to capture the impact of atherosclerotic carotid artery stenosis and its treatment on health related quality of life.METHODS: A three round modified Delphi consensus study was performed. A mixed expert Delphi panel of doctors (international panel of dedicated vascular surgeons and neurologists) and patients (either symptomatic or asymptomatic patients meeting criteria for carotid artery revascularisation) was implemented. The aim was to obtain pre-defined consensus on items in four pre-defined domains: generic, quality of ...
