Comparison of immediate extubation versus ultrafast tracking strategy in the management of off-pump coronary artery bypass surgery.
Conclusion: IE appears to be safe and effective in OPCAB patients without any major complications. It can be achieved after fulfilling traditional extubation criteria but is confined to highly selective group of patients. PMID: 29652272 [PubMed - in process]

Plasma Metal Concentrations and Incident Coronary Heart Disease in Chinese Adults: The Dongfeng-Tongji Cohort
Conclusions: Our study suggested that incident CHD was positively associated with plasma levels of titanium and arsenic, and inversely associated with selenium. Comparison of Levosimendan versus Dobutamine in Patients with Moderate to Severe Left Ventricular Dysfunction Undergoing Off-pump Coronary Artery Bypass Grafting: A Randomized Prospective Study.
CONCLUSIONS: Levosimendan was associated with statistically significant increase in indices of contractility (CI, LVSWI, and RVSWI) and decrease in PCWP during and after OPCAB. Postoperative Atrial Fibrillation After Thoracic Aortic Surgery
Conclusions Several risk factors contribute to the incidence of POAF after thoracic aortic surgery. We found that POAF significantly increased 30-day operative mortality (p < 0.0001). Our findings can be used to develop a risk stratification system for the prediction of POAF.

Increasing severity of aortic atherosclerosis in coronary artery bypass grafting patients evaluated by transesophageal echocardiography.
CONCLUSIONS: Patients coming for CABG in group 2009 exhibited significantly higher grades of aortic atheroma on TEE, compared to group 2002. Understanding the risk of atheroma in the elderly CABG population may help in altering surgical approaches to lessen the risk of catastrophic stroke. Potential options needing further study include the off-pump approach and modification of cross-clamp site and technique as well as other modalities. PMID: 25379067 [PubMed]
